The recent leak surrounding Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been quite a blow for Ubisoft, the well-known French publisher. They’ve expressed their disappointment, calling the situation “unfortunate.”
Over on the official Assassin’s Creed subreddit, Ubisoft reached out to fans, urging those who have already snagged early copies to resist the urge to ruin the surprise for others. Although the game isn’t officially launching until March 20th, some eager players have somehow managed to secure copies well before the street date. In fact, there have even been reports on the Gaming Leaks and Rumours subreddit of people paying up to $100 on auction sites to get their hands on the game early.
Ubisoft acknowledged the matter, stating, “We are aware players have accessed Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of its official release.” They went on to explain that the development team is still ironing out some last-minute updates to ensure everything runs smoothly for launch day. Thus, any footage making the rounds online doesn’t actually reflect the finished product.
The company reiterated their disappointment, noting, “Leaks are unfortunate and can diminish the excitement for players.” They made a heartfelt request for players to avoid sharing spoilers. Ubisoft expressed gratitude to those in the community who are already taking action to shield others from spoilers.
Their message continued with a playful nod to the game’s title: “Stay in the shadows, avoid the spoilers, and keep an eye on our channel for more official surprises in the coming weeks! March 20 will be here soon!”
