Halfbrick Studios, alongside Ian Fitz, the genius mind behind the original “The Thrill of the Fight” released in 2016, has thrilled fans today by launching the eagerly anticipated sequel to this beloved boxing simulation. Available now on Quest in Early Access, boxing enthusiasts can finally step into the ring once more.
This sequel, called “The Thrill of the Fight 2,” presents a completely reimagined experience and is up for grabs on Quest headsets, including Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. While its predecessor was centered mainly around PvE battles, the sequel has taken a significant leap forward. Today, with its Early Access launch, online PvP boxing—a feature fans have been waiting for with bated breath—is now a reality.
Halfbrick Studios explains, “This early version of the game focuses exclusively on multiplayer modes. We want to give those itching for online battles the opportunity to start fighting right away.” They also hint at future updates, noting that while single-player content and enhancements in multiplayer are under development, they’ll be rolled out incrementally during the early access phase.
The developers have ambitious plans extending into 2025, aiming to incorporate compelling single-player content. This includes competitive AI featuring dynamically generated behaviors and appearances, new training modes, and additional features. As the game evolves during this period, players can expect a continuous stream of updates that enhance the depth and immersive quality of the boxing experience.
Currently, players can dive into the game with features such as customizable avatars, a skill-based matchmaking system for online PvP, and physics that aspire to deliver another authentic boxing sensation. There’s also a cool spectator camera feature that allows your matches to be viewed by others, using a ‘live sports’ style camera setup when a PC is connected, adding a fun and engaging way for others to share in your virtual boxing bouts.
If you’re ready to lace up your gloves and step back into the action, you can find “The Thrill of the Fight 2” on the Horizon Store for Quest today, priced at a wallet-friendly $10.
