Ubisoft recently surprised fans with a free PS5 update for Far Cry New Dawn, a spin-off from the Far Cry series released in 2019. The update enhances the game to run at 60 FPS on the PS5, offering a smoother experience for players. Although available for Xbox Series X|S users as well, those gaming on older consoles will miss out on this upgrade.
Far Cry New Dawn stands alone as a sequel to Far Cry 5 and was added to the PS Plus Extra/Premium catalog back in December 2022. It joined Far Cry Primal from 2016, along with its predecessor. Typically, Ubisoft titles linger in the catalog for quite some time and sometimes even make a comeback. However, since it’s been over two years since these games were introduced, it’s a good idea to dive into them while they’re still accessible. While most titles generally leave PS Plus shortly after reaching the two-year milestone, it seems Sony’s arrangement with Ubisoft offers a bit more flexibility.
If you haven’t subscribed to PS Plus but have a Ubisoft+ standalone membership, you’re in luck. You can also access Far Cry New Dawn, along with its new PS5 update, for free.
For those who love collecting trophies, aiming for platinum in this game will take you roughly 20 hours of play, and the path is quite straightforward.
