Fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are starting to get a little anxious about its slated PC release on January 30. The buzzworthy sequel isn’t up for pre-order yet and Insomniac Games has been tight-lipped about the system requirements. This silence from Insomniac is somewhat puzzling since they confirmed the PC debut back in October 2024.
Sony’s been quite active in transferring its PlayStation exclusive titles onto PC. Marvel’s Spider-Man was a big success after its leap to Steam and Epic Games Store. This popularity set the stage for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to follow suit, offering noticeable graphical upgrades. Both Spider-Man titles had considerable gaps between their PlayStation and PC releases, leaving the PC crowd waiting eagerly during those years.
Though there was almost a four-year hiatus between Marvel’s Spider-Man hitting PS4 and its PC rendition, fans were hopeful that the wait wouldn’t be as long for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Despite Insomniac’s announcement last October, there’s been no option to pre-order the game, even though some enticing bonuses were previously mentioned. The system requirements remain unannounced, increasing the uncertainty as the release date approaches.
Historically, Insomniac and Nixxes Software have rolled out system specs well ahead of time for their Spider-Man PC games. The current Steam page for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 lists goodies like an Arachknight suit for Peter with color variations, a Shadow-Spider suit for Miles, an early unlock for the Web Grabber, and three skill points—yet, frustratingly, it’s only available for wishlisting right now.
On the rumor mill, whispers suggest Insomniac might be brewing a Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, as hinted by a new job listing for a AAA title. This wouldn’t be surprising given prior leaks. Insomniac has also been juggling projects, including a new Wolverine game. A leaked 2023 roadmap suggested we might see Marvel’s Wolverine in 2026 and a potential Spider-Man 3 in 2028.
In the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker and Miles Morales face tremendous challenges both in and out of their superhero personas. They’re tasked with saving the city from Venom and a new symbiote threat. Players get to explore Marvel’s New York with faster web-swinging and new features like Web Wings. With Peter’s symbiote abilities and Miles’s bio-electric powers, they’ll confront infamous villains like an original Venom, Kraven the Hunter, The Lizard, and others from Marvel’s rogue gallery. The game’s genre is action-adventure within an open-world setting. It was initially released on PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023, with its engine being Insomniac Engine v.4.0, rated T for Teen, and it’s expected to take around 17 hours to beat.
