COLD VR, the eagerly anticipated spiritual successor to the immensely popular SUPERHOT VR from 2016, is almost here. It’s officially set to launch next month for Quest and PC VR headsets, with a version for the PSVR 2 coming a bit later.
There’s no doubt that Superhot VR remains a classic, a game that has entertained countless players over the years. Surprisingly, not many developers have attempted to mimic its distinctive time-stopping mechanic. However, COLD VR is taking a bold step in a different direction. Instead of slowing things down, this game speeds everything up. When you decelerate, time whizzes by, and so does the relentless enemy AI. Hesitate too long while planning your next move, and you might just find yourself in hot water.
Recently, ALLWARE announced through an exciting new trailer that they are collaborating with Perp Games to bring COLD VR to Quest and PC VR headsets. The game is poised for release on January 21st, 2025. As for PSVR 2 players, patience is key as this version is scheduled to drop “at a later date.”
In addition to ramping up the pace with more challenging enemy AI, the game also throws in various environmental obstacles. Expect dangers like deadly lasers, shifting platforms, and unexpected twists for those feeling brave enough to explore every nook and cranny.
Carlos Alfonso from ALLWARE shares his enthusiasm, stating, “Creating COLD VR has been a remarkable adventure. Thanks to the incredible support from Perp Games, we’re able to offer players a truly unique experience where time itself is part of the gameplay. Their assistance has been pivotal in reaching a larger audience than I once thought possible. With Perp’s help, COLD VR will be available not only on PSVR2 but also on Quest, making my dream of sharing this game with the world a reality. I’m really excited for what’s to come!”
If you’re looking to get your hands on COLD VR, you can already add it to your wishlist on all platforms. Priced at $19.99 / £14.99 / €19.99, you can find it in the Horizon Store for Quest 2/3/Pro, on Steam for PC VR headsets, and on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
