New Expansion Coming This Month for Free-To-Play Social VR Game Cards & Tankards

Cards & Tankards, a popular social VR card game, is gearing up to release an exciting new expansion later this month. Created by Divergent Realities, this game blends social interaction with the fun of collectible card battles, accessible on both flat-screen platforms and VR headsets. The studio is rolling out the ‘Ashes of Ur-Enku’ expansion, which promises gamers 50 fresh cards, stunning diamond animated variants, a variety of new cosmetics, an updated season pass, as well as some rebalancing of the game mechanics and rank resets.

Set against the backdrop of Ur-Enku’s wild terrains, this expansion dives into the adventures of the Plundering Guild. They’re on a mission to dig up ancient Dwarven secrets using a daring, yet prohibited, fire-hunting technique. As they sift through archives stained with Aether magic—a mysterious, primitive force—only one explorer will live to tell the tale, according to what the developers have shared.

Having been in the gaming space for nearly two years now, Cards & Tankards has been consistently evolving with various updates. The release in December, Version 2.4, was packed with comprehensive fixes. Prior to that, Version 2.3 successfully rebalanced over half of the game’s cards. March saw the arrival of the ‘Crusade of Sun & Stone’ expansion, and a robust ‘Ranked Mode’ came into play late in 2023.

This dynamic game is currently playable on Meta Quest, Steam, and Google Play, with the highly anticipated Ashes of Ur-Enku expansion set to launch on March 27.
