Free Lives has just revealed that the much-loved and hilariously brutal combat simulator, GORN, which originally debuted in 2019, is finally getting a sequel. Scheduled to launch next week, it will be available on both Quest and SteamVR headsets, promising an even more chaotic, weapon-filled joust for VR gamers.
The sequel, GORN 2, is a collaborative effort between developers Free Lives and Cortopia, and it’s being brought to players under the publishing banner of Devolver Digital. This time, the game continues its tradition of letting players face off against massive, gladiatorial foes, but that’s just the beginning. Gamers can expect a fresh assortment of weapons, a variety of arenas, and new traps that will definitely keep them on their toes, not to mention a slew of challenging new enemies and formidable bosses to conquer.
A highlight of GORN 2 is its reliance on a fully physics-driven combat mechanic. Players will find themselves wielding a staggering arsenal of 35 different weapons, as they journey through dramatic heavenly realms. These landscapes echo with the presence of the fallen champions from the original game, adding a layer of storytelling to the carnage.
The campaign mode promises to engage players for three to four hours, packed with intense action segments. During this time, they’ll face off against five distinct bosses that stand in the way of total victory. But the fun doesn’t stop there—GORN 2 is also set to feature an Endless Mode for an ongoing challenge, as well as a Custom Mode. The latter allows players to tailor their experience by selecting specific weapons and forming their own unique troupe of adversaries.
Mark your calendars for the release on April 17, when GORN 2 will make its debut on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and higher, as well as on PC VR headsets via Steam. For fans eagerly waiting to play on PSVR 2, rest assured that the version is slated to launch this summer, though we’re still waiting on the developers to confirm the exact date.
