[Exclusive Interview] Robust Games Discusses Loco Motive on PS4Blog.net

In preparation for our Loco Motive review, I reached out to Adam from Robust Games to chat about the game and its development process. Let’s dive into what we discussed!

PS4Blog: Good morning, Adam! Thanks for sparing some time for this interview. Could you kick things off by telling our readers a little about yourself and your role?

Sure thing! I’m Adam Riches, the creative director and co-founder at Robust Games. We’ve just released our first game, Loco Motive!

PS4B: Loco Motive is now available on the Nintendo Switch. What can players expect from it?

We’ve worked hard to make sure the game feels fantastic on the Nintendo Switch, especially with the controls. Playing it on the go has become a favorite way for us to enjoy it, bringing a unique charm to the gaming experience.

PS4B: How long did the development take, and how much has the game evolved from its original game jam concept to the point-and-click adventure it is today?

We began development in June 2021, and it finally arrived in late November 2024, so it was nearly three and a half years in the making! The most significant change from our initial game jam concept was the story’s expansion and the addition of more playable characters. The game jam version offered around an hour of gameplay, but we’ve expanded that to a full 10-12 hours in the final game. We’ve kept many of the original characters and puzzles, but the increased scope allowed us to deepen their complexity significantly.

PS4B: Is there any possibility of a physical release for Loco Motive on the Nintendo Switch? A boxed version with extras like an instruction booklet or art book would be fantastic!

We’re definitely excited about the idea of a physical release for Loco Motive. While we can’t commit to anything right now, it’s something we’re certainly considering!
