Exciting news for console Call of Duty enthusiasts! Treyarch is set to introduce an option to turn off cross-play for Ranked matches in both Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. If you’ve already conquered all the achievements and are now gearing up for Ranked play on your Xbox, you’ll soon be able to compete exclusively against other console players, dodging the many cheaters and hackers prevalent in the PC community.
Heads up for those eagerly awaiting Season 02, as this is when Treyarch plans to roll out this anticipated feature on January 28. Although they’ve confirmed this for Ranked modes, there’s no word yet on whether the option will extend to standard multiplayer. In a recent blog post, Treyarch acknowledged the player feedback that called for a cross-play toggle since the feature debuted back in November. They stated, “With the goal of enhancing player experience, we’re reverting to our traditional cross-play management. Come Season 02, console players hungry for fair competition can choose to play solely against fellow console users.”
Recent player complaints have highlighted a surge in hackers and cheaters disrupting Ranked matches on Black Ops 6 and Warzone, with most culprits coming from PC platforms. Providing a cross-play disable option for console users seems like a considerate step in addressing these concerns. However, it’s worth noting that this change might lead to longer wait times for filling up multiplayer lobbies.
Treyarch has mentioned that the feature is currently undergoing testing and “is planned to go live for both Black Ops 6 Ranked Play and Warzone Ranked Play during S02.” Sadly, standard multiplayer gamers might have to wait longer for such an option. The developers assured, “We’ll be monitoring closely and considering further adjustments to uphold the integrity of the gaming ecosystem.”
So, are you going to jump into Ranked play when the cross-play disable option finally becomes available? Let us hear your thoughts! And don’t forget, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is easily one of the top picks on the Game Pass, so it’s definitely worth exploring if you’ve got a subscription.
