At Least Six Games Will Leave Xbox Game Pass on January 15

Xbox Game Pass is trimming down its library once again, with at least six games set to depart by January 15, 2024. The lineup of games leaving includes Figment: Journey Into the Mind, Insurgency: Sandstorm, and Exoprimal. These exits actually outpace the new arrivals confirmed for January 2025 on Xbox Game Pass. Although losing titles is a regular occurrence, it’s noteworthy how significant this particular drop is.

Every couple of weeks, Xbox Game Pass experiences a shakeup, typically at both the middle and end of the month. The last instance was on December 31, which saw the removal of six games such as LEGO 2K Drive and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.

Let’s take a closer look at the titles bidding farewell on January 15. Following the updated “Leaving Soon” notice on the Xbox app, gamers should prepare to say goodbye to Common’hood, Escape Academy, Exoprimal, Figment: Journey Into the Mind, Insurgency: Sandstorm, and Those Who Remain. Escape Academy had quite a tenure on the service, having been part of it since July 2022.

For those intent on maximizing their time with Xbox Game Pass, the silver lining is that most of these titles are quick to complete. With the exception of Insurgency: Sandstorm, which demands a hefty chunk of time due to its multiplayer focus, the rest can be conquered in just a few days.

However, the “Leaving Soon” notice isn’t always comprehensive. It’s possible that more games might be removed on January 15. As the first wave of January 2025 releases is expected to be announced shortly, we might see a complete list of removals when that time comes. Anticipate an announcement by January 7, coinciding with the service arrival of Road 96.

Looking ahead, Xbox Game Pass has only disclosed five titles set for January 2025 thus far. While we’re optimistic about more games joining, it’s also apparent that more will depart come January 31. The last time Xbox Game Pass added more games than it removed in a month was in July 2024, marking this prolonged spree of net losses as its longest to date. As for upcoming additions, Road 96 will pave the way for three day-one releases: Eternal Strands, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, set to drop between January 28–31.
