We’ve finally got a confirmed date for when you can start preordering the highly anticipated Switch 2 in the United States. This news comes after two weeks filled with discussions about tariffs.
Nintendo has announced in a press release today that preorders for the Switch 2 will kick off on April 24, which falls on a Thursday. The pricing will remain as previously stated: $449.99 for just the system or $499.99 if you want to include a digital copy of Mario Kart World.
However, Nintendo has cautioned that accessory prices might see some upward adjustments due to changing market conditions. For instance, the Switch 2 Pro Controller is now priced at $84.99, reflecting a $5 increase. If you’re planning to get an extra pair of Switch 2 Joy-Cons, that will now set you back $94.99, which is also $5 more than before. Additionally, a second dock set now costs $119.99, marking a $10 rise, while additional Joy-Con straps have gone up by $1, now priced at $13.99. On the whole, several other accessories will see a $5 uptick in pricing. You can check out a comprehensive list of hardware MSRPs as well as confirm pricing for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, pictured in this article.
Meanwhile, our friends up north in Canada should expect preorders to start around the same time, although confirmation might be delayed due to a national holiday today. While retailers have yet to update their listings, Nintendo of Canada has backed up the same preorder date and has also shared the Canadian pricing details.
