While IGN recently suggested a change, Nintendo hasn’t yet confirmed a new pre-order date for the Nintendo Switch 2 in North America. They based their article on an FAQ from Nintendo’s pre-order page, mentioning that the first batch of invites would be sent out on May 8th. Interestingly, this date was specified in the FAQ since it was posted on April 2nd, two days before any delay announcement. We verified this through the Wayback Machine, which preserved the site as it was right when it launched.
Initially, pre-orders for the Switch 2 faced a setback due to tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump on multiple countries, which threatened to severely disrupt the shipment of Switch 2 units to the U.S. Thankfully, a 90-day hold has led to a significant reduction of these tariffs, but Nintendo hasn’t provided any fresh information on pre-order plans for North American customers.
