Sony has recently sparked excitement among gaming enthusiasts with a new partnership involving Bandai Namco Entertainment. During the latest Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that Sony has called upon Bandai Namco to revive some of its cherished first-party franchises, and this time, they’re making the leap to multiple platforms. Fans are buzzing with anticipation over which classic PlayStation games might make a comeback.
Sony boasts a rich collection of underutilized PlayStation intellectual properties, leaving many gamers hopeful for more revivals. Although the specifics of Sony and Bandai Namco’s agreement haven’t officially been shared, three titles are on the table for now: Patapon 1+2 Replay, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots, and the previously launched Freedom Wars Remastered. Whether or not Sony plans to expand this list remains a mystery, but that hasn’t dampened the community’s optimism.
Gamers are voicing their desires passionately. “Namco, please acquire the rights for Tokyo Jungle from Sony and update it for modern consoles,” one ResetEra forum member pleaded. Another chimed in, “I’m hoping for a revival of Soul Sacrifice from the Vita days.” There are also requests to bring back games like Puppeteer and The Last Guy. And, in a nod to a long-standing fan favorite, Bloodborne remains a popular topic of discussion.
It’s hard to blame fans for yearning for these classic titles to make a return. Sony’s impressive catalog of intellectual properties offers much more than the remakes and remasters of more recent games like Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn.
What about you? Any classic PlayStation games on your personal wish list?
