It looks like the gaming world is about to crossover into cinema once more, with a movie adaptation of the newly-released game Split Fiction currently in the works.
According to a report from Variety, the project is being spearheaded by Story Kitchen, who are in the process of assembling a cast, writers, and a director. This team has previously been involved with a variety of game-to-film adaptations, including It Takes Two, which is being produced by Amazon, as well as projects for Toejam and Earl, Slim Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
Apparently, there’s a major buzz in Hollywood, with multiple top-tier studios eager to jump on board.
Split Fiction made quite the impact when it launched in March, selling an impressive one million copies within just 48 hours, and then doubling that figure in the first week.
In a post on Bluesky, Hazelight expressed their amazement at this success, saying, “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing.” They went on to thank their fans, both new and loyal, saying, “We love how excited you are for our game.”
Meanwhile, It Takes Two’s film adaptation is attracting star power, with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson reportedly attached, while the script is being penned by Sonic the Hedgehog writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller.
