Yesterday marked the opening of pre-orders for the latest VR headset from Bigscreen, the Beyond 2. This new model promises enhanced field-of-view and sharper image quality, thanks to a fresh pancake lens design. Impressively, within just hours of its release, Beyond 2 outstripped the sales of its predecessor by a wide margin.
Bigscreen shared updates on social media, celebrating the headset’s popularity among PC VR enthusiasts. They noted, “In the first 25 minutes alone, Beyond 2 sold more units than what Beyond 1 did on its debut day. Within one hour, our sales had doubled from Beyond 1’s launch day figures.”
Throughout the launch day, Bigscreen continued to update the sales figures for both the Beyond 2 and its variant with eye-tracking capabilities, the Beyond 2e. The latest stat to emerge painted a dramatic picture: “In just 10 hours, the sales of Beyond 2 eclipsed what Beyond 1 achieved in its first four months.”
Currently, Beyond 2 and 2e are slated for shipping in June 2025, with the initial shipment slots for April and May having sold out rapidly.
So, what’s driving the excitement around Beyond 2? While further details on the specs can be found on the Bigscreen website, much enthusiasm may stem from the seamless upgrade path the company offers. Beyond 1 users can transition smoothly by purchasing Beyond 2 at a discounted rate of $849 and $1049 for Beyond 2e. The new headset is also compatible with most Beyond 1 accessories, retaining the custom facial interface necessary for its predecessor.
Beyond 2 introduces a redesigned pancake lens, providing a broader 116-degree diagonal field of view, an adjustable IPD mechanism, and a lighter weight of just 107 grams. The 2e model ups the ante by including AI-powered eye-tracking. Both iterations maintain the dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays found in the original Beyond, although improved lenses ensure better clarity and an enhanced field of view.
The Beyond 2 and 2e headsets are priced at $1,019 and $1,219 respectively, with discounts available for previous owners. Alongside the headsets, a new halo-style mount and a Lightblocker facial interface were revealed, expected to launch in Q3 2025.
For those interested in upgrading their VR experience, all these products are available for purchase on the Bigscreen website.
