Dino Patti, a seasoned figure in the gaming world, has once again taken the reins of Jumpship, buying it back from Thunderful.
According to a report from GI.biz, Patti, who previously worked with Playdead, has ambitious plans to revamp the studio and steer it towards a fresh path. Having co-founded Jumpship alongside Chris Olsen in 2017, the duo introduced their first game, Somerville, in 2022.
That year, Thunderful, a European games company, acquired the studio. In addition to reclaiming Jumpship, Patti now holds shares in Sad Owl Studios, the creators of Viewfinder.
Details regarding the financial aspects of these business moves haven’t been disclosed.
In Patti’s words, “I can’t reveal too much just yet, but I strongly feel that the current environment for investment and publishing is outdated.”
He continued, “To truly support skilled game developers and, crucially, the players, we need a complete transformation.”
“Pushing the limits of emotions, storytelling, and innovation has always been Jumpship’s core mission. My goal is to lead the company into a completely new direction while remaining true to that mission.”
He concluded, “This venture is about more than just making a business deal; it’s about reigniting the passion and vision that originally gave life to Jumpship, and pushing it even further than before.”
