Available on platforms like PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, the current challenge in Fortnite invites players to face Godzilla and live to tell the tale!
Lately, I have mixed feelings about Fortnite. It’s not the same game I fell in love with during its incredible first year. Back then, every match was a whirlwind of chaos, comedy, and occasional triumphs, with real players going head-to-head. Today, things feel different. The vibrant spontaneity has been watered down, leaving a lot of bots who simply go through the motions of combat, making it feel as though they’re just there for you to notch up easy wins. The enigmatic and open-to-interpretation storylines have also faded away, replaced by MMORPG-like quests and chatterbox characters that spoon-feed standard gaming narratives. New characters from well-known franchises constantly make their way into the store, which, unfortunately, dilutes what used to be Fortnite’s unique character, making it feel more like a commercial theme park straight out of a Ready Player One-esque world.
Despite all this, Fortnite still draws me in. The tactile sensation of navigating its landscapes never fails to impress: running, sliding, jumping, and climbing is a joy. On rough days, I still find solace in logging in, breezing through daily quests to rack up some quick XP—a distraction I can lose myself in. And there’s no denying the game still knows how to stage an epic spectacle. Right now, it’s bigger than ever with Godzilla taking center stage. Watching a clip of the almighty titan in action, I was struck by the impressive sense of scale and power he brings. This weekend, I can already tell I’m going to be spending more time than usual in Fortnite, eager to glimpse that colossal menace from the vantage point of a tiny human, heart pounding as I flee from something genuinely terrifying. So, if you’re roaming around Fortnite and you happen across me while you’re stomping around as Godzilla, spare me a thought. I’m just a humble player trying to enjoy the thrill—you know, no harm intended! — Carolyn Petit
