Sanzaru Games, the creative minds behind the Asgard’s Wrath series, have just wrapped up their chapter on the Quest-exclusive Asgard’s Wrath 2 (2023) by launching their final content update. The studio is now eagerly looking ahead to their “next big thing.”
As reported by MIXED, Sanzaru released the last major update for Asgard’s Wrath 2, which follows up on their original Rift-exclusive game, Asgard’s Wrath (2019). The update, known as ‘The Long Winter’, marks the twelfth and final ‘Cosmic Event’ of the game. This event invites players to engage in fresh, time-limited challenges each month, offering the chance to earn points and unlock unique cosmetic items.
Having been released in late 2023 for Quest 2 and newer models, Asgard’s Wrath 2 boasts an impressive campaign that clocks in at over 60 hours. Importantly, this estimate doesn’t include the additional playtime from monthly Cosmic Events.
In an announcement on Sanzaru’s Discord channel, the Community Manager stated, “This will be our last major title update for Asgard’s Wrath 2. Future updates will be limited to addressing significant issues and bugs. We know our community has been eager for more content, and we wanted to be upfront that there are no further plans for new developments for Asgard’s Wrath 2.”
Looking forward, Sanzaru commented that they are now shifting their focus to “some AWESOME stuff,” hinting at exciting projects on the horizon. Although specifics are still under wraps, the team is enthusiastic about sharing their next big endeavor with their dedicated community.
The future remains a mystery for Sanzaru, especially after being acquired by Meta (formerly Facebook) in 2020. Since then, the studio has been focused on creating exclusive content for Meta’s XR headsets. Given their expertise and track record with two major RPG releases, it’s anyone’s guess what thrilling new adventures they’ll embark on next.
