It’s been a little while since we last explored the Savage Planet universe, but fear not, the adventure continues! This time, we’re diving back in under a fresh banner, Raccoon Logic, even though the same talented folks are at the helm.
Formerly known as Typhoon Studios, we initially brought you Journey to the Savage Planet back in 2020, and if you’re a PlayStation Plus member, you can still enjoy it today. Now, get ready for the next chapter with Revenge of the Savage Planet—a sci-fi co-op caper where you’ll embark on a hilarious survival journey that promises to entertain right to the end! Launching in May 2025 for both PS5 and PS4, this newest installment offers more to explore and more laughs to share.
You’ll have the chance to build your space habitat, customizing it to your heart’s desire, while delving into alien landscapes brimming with mystery. Every rock, tree, and mysterious artifact is waiting for you to scan and catalog. With the sequel, we’ve expanded the universe, adding more planets for you to uncover. Plus, you can team up from the get-go with a new third-person perspective. So, whether you’re running, shooting, jumping, or collecting, you’ve got four vibrant worlds at your fingertips. As you play, you’ll craft, upgrade, and peel back the layers of hidden secrets.
But wait, there’s more! Today, we’re lifting the veil on a secret fifth world. It’s packed with creatures that are not exactly what you’d call “normal,” and our team is here to share what went into creating this unique place.
Be sure to check out the video below!
In this vibrant new world, exploration remains key. From capturing creatures to tackling lakes, and scaling mountains to grinding on rails—there’s a lot to do. You’ll also want to uncover a secret lair, a move that stands in stark contrast to the organic openness of our other worlds, keeping players on their toes. Here’s what some of our team members had to say about this fantastic new creation.
### A World Inspired by Retro Arcades and 90’s Fun
Studio Head Reid Schneider shared, “Filled with fresh challenges, insane verticality, and unique modified creatures, this final world answers all the game’s lingering questions.”
Lead Designer Steve Masters added, “This digital juxtaposition acts as a narrative device, reinforcing the enigmatic side of our worlds. Through the dark and dangerous lair Slappi created, we explore his character, while still indulging in the weird and wacky alien creatures we’ve always loved.”
Audio Director Cameron Jarvis explained, “Our sound design takes an opposite route as well, blending traditional instrumentation with a digital flair. We evolved from a pinball machine meets game show feel to something akin to being inside a computer filled with playful 8-bit sparkles.”
Art Director Erick Bilodeau chimed in, “Entertainment value was key, and robot toys are just plain fun! We drew inspiration from retro arcade gaming, crafting a nostalgic vibe using a hard surface modeling approach and retro wave neon colors—a real homage to the 90s.”
### Local and Online Co-op Adventures Await
In Revenge of the Savage Planet, the way you choose to play is as varied as the galaxies themselves. Enjoy online co-op with cross-play options, dive into couch co-op with your nearest and dearest, or embark on a solitary quest in single-player mode if you prefer your own company.
Producer Noemie L’Ecuyer noted, “Our systematic design approach creates extraordinary interactions and outcomes that players can explore and experiment with throughout the game. Every time you play, you’ll encounter something new and enjoy a unique experience.”
To make sure you’re ready to jump in when it releases, add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store. We’re offering launch week specials, including a quirky in-game trash panda suit and a launch discount. Pre-order, purchase, and more launch details will be coming soon.
