The newly launched Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown for PS5 is giving players an exciting opportunity with a free trial that lets you dive into the game without limitations. Nacon, the developer behind this racing title, announced that from today, all players can freely enjoy the game until Tuesday, December 31. To take full advantage of the online features, a PS Plus membership is required.
Currently, this free trial is only accessible to PS5 users. Although Nacon hinted at plans for free trials on other platforms, they didn’t share any specific details about when that might happen.
According to a recent tweet by Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s official account, players can explore the virtual versions of Hong Kong Island and the capital of Ibiza, all while maneuvering some high-end cars. The trial runs from 9 AM UTC on December 27 to 9 AM UTC on December 31, providing plenty of time to get a feel for the game at no cost.
Since its release in September 2024, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown received mixed reviews. On Metacritic, the PS5 version scored a modest 55 out of 100. Similarly, only a small percentage of critics on OpenCritic have given it their stamp of approval. The main points of critique have been directed towards the game’s lackluster presentation and a few technical hiccups, elements that could influence one’s experience especially when compared to its competition in the racing genre.
Although the PS Store tags it as ‘PS5 Pro enhanced,’ it’s unclear exactly how this affects the gameplay. That said, it’s an open invitation for players to test the waters themselves on either PS5 or PS5 Pro. As for whether your progress during the trial will carry over if you decide to purchase the full game, Nacon has kept mum, and there’s no information provided on the PS Store page either.
