It’s time to dive into the RetroActive review of “Professor Layton and the Curious Village.” We’re delving into everything from its gameplay and music to its quirky storyline and, of course, those infamous puzzles. Our aim with this RetroActive was to spotlight the Nintendo DS on its 20th anniversary, and ensuring we included this discussion before 2024 wrapped up.
We managed to achieve just that.
A quick heads-up: this episode was recorded back on December 19. So, if there have been any new developments, we weren’t able to include them in this discussion.
We hope you’re having a fantastic holiday season. Looking forward to catching up in 2025!

A big thank you to James Jones for editing this episode. The “Men of Leisure” theme song was crafted just for Radio Free Nintendo by Perry Burkum. You can discover more of Perry’s work on his SoundCloud. Our logo was designed by Connor Strickland, and you can check out what he’s been up to on his website.
To wrap up this episode, we feature the “End Theme (Live Recording Version)” from “Professor Layton and the Curious Village,” composed by Tomohito Nishiura and handpicked by Greg. All rights for this piece are held by LEVEL-5 Inc.
