The possibility of the Fortnite Arcane skins making a comeback seems increasingly doubtful, given a senior official at Riot Games has reportedly indicated they might not return at all. However, Fortnite fans shouldn’t completely lose hope.
The Arcane: League of Legends-themed set for Fortnite includes Jinx and Vi skins, along with ten cosmetic items that complement them. Jinx made her debut towards the close of Chapter 2: Season 8 in November 2021, just as the hit Netflix series premiered. Vi followed soon after, arriving during Chapter 3: Season 1 in January 2022. Both skins were warmly received, with Jinx particularly standing out as a fan favorite in Fortnite’s Gaming Legends Series. Unfortunately, after their initial removal in early February 2022, neither skin has been reintroduced to the game.
Famed Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR recently took to Twitter, suggesting the Arcane skins might never return. This claim was attributed to an unspecified Riot Games co-founder, either Brandon Beck or Marc Merrill, who reportedly noted that the skins were designed to be available for a limited period, specifically to coincide with the launch of Arcane’s first season. While Arcane has since released its second and final season in November 2024, it’s uncertain if there was any serious consideration to bring the skins back for this occasion.
Despite this, reports now suggest that Riot is aware of just how popular these skins were among players. Following ShiinaBR’s revelations, a Riot official is said to have promised to discuss reintroducing the Arcane skins with the League of Legends team.
A potential return of the Arcane set wouldn’t solely depend on Riot, as Epic Games would also have to be on board with the idea. Given the typically lengthy process associated with licensing and negotiations needed to introduce any IP into Fortnite, fans shouldn’t expect to see Jinx and Vi making a sudden comeback in the game.
Regardless of whether these original Arcane skins return, there may be other opportunities for Riot and Epic to collaborate moving forward. Riot co-founder Marc Merrill recently confirmed that additional League of Legends shows are in the pipeline, all of which might benefit from high-profile crossovers akin to Fortnite’s cosmetic offerings.
In any case, even without the Arcane skins, Fortnite offers a vibrant gaming experience. The game allows players to create, play, and battle together for free. Whether aiming to be the last player standing in Battle Royale or experiencing a concert, there’s a multitude of ways to enjoy Fortnite alongside friends. The dynamic environments ensure that no two games are ever the same, with opportunities to team up and compete across various game modes, from survival to adventure and beyond.
