Xbox has introduced a sleek new feature called compact mode, which was initially accessible only to Xbox Insiders but is now available for all PC gamers. This update comes alongside new management features and some additional enhancements.
According to an announcement on Xbox Wire, the compact mode designed for PC gamers is now officially live. This innovative mode streamlines access to widgets and navigation, letting players toggle between widgets easily using the RB and LB buttons on their controllers. Additionally, Xbox has implemented support for a virtual keyboard.
Game Management Options
In terms of managing your games, you’ve now got the option to download and install all your game add-ons simultaneously. This handy feature also lets you see all your add-ons at a glance. To take advantage of this, just right-click on any game you’ve got installed in your library. Choose “Manage,” and then hop over to the newly added “Add-ons” section.
The Xbox Mobile App
Bringing more of the PC app features to the small screen, Xbox is updating their mobile app as well. Initially, these updates will only be available to Xbox members using mobile devices, with plans to eventually expand to all users. An interesting note from the announcement mentions, “Starting in November, we will be phasing out the option to download the Xbox Game Pass app.”
The core upgrades in the Xbox App for mobile allow you to manage your membership and browse your library seamlessly. Ultimate Tier Game Pass members will gain perks and the ability to claim these perks easily. Furthermore, those with an Ultimate Game Pass can also stream selected games with Xbox Cloud Gaming on their iOS or Android devices using a compatible browser.
The app also boasts features like sharing game clips, screenshots, comparing your progress with others, engaging in video calls while gaming, and more. Plus, you can remotely install games on your console even when you’re not at home.
Xbox Consoles Pre-Download Feature
Xbox players also benefit from a pre-download feature on consoles so they don’t have to wait for game updates before diving into their favorite titles. There are wish list notifications to alert you when a game you’ve been eyeing becomes available.
