Known for their premium handheld consoles, Ayaneo has just lifted the curtain on their latest top-tier release, the Ayaneo 3. It takes the solid foundation laid by its predecessor, featuring a familiar design and button configuration while ramping up its hardware prowess.
As detailed on Ayaneo’s official blog, the Ayaneo 3 gives prospective buyers an exciting choice between two powerful processors: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U and the beefier AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. It’s also equipped with a striking seven-inch high-refresh rate LCD or OLED HDR display, setting the stage for an unparalleled visual experience. In an effort to enhance user interaction, Ayaneo has also added a couple of extra buttons on the back of the device.
That said, Ayaneo is keeping mum on further specifics such as RAM, storage capabilities, or pricing for the Ayaneo 3. If we look back to what the Ayaneo 2 offered, it packed options ranging from 16GB to 32GB RAM and storage configurations up to 2TB, with prices starting at $1,099. Given these benchmarks, we can anticipate similar options and perhaps a slight bump in prices for the new model.
Interestingly, the Ayaneo 3 marks one of the first handheld gaming devices to debut with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 onboard. Even though current games might not fully exploit the NPU in the HX 370, its architecture boasts four extra cores, the Zen 5 design, and an integrated AMD Radeon 890M GPU. This makes it a real powerhouse, even when compared to today’s leading handheld gaming PCs, many of which rely on the Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor.
However, it won’t be a smooth sailing for the Ayaneo 3 as it docks into a market swarming with rivals. We anticipate seeing new arrivals like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two before the end of the year or the beginning of 2025. It will be fascinating to see how the Ayaneo 3 can set itself apart and the kind of gaming experience it offers players on the go. Stay tuned for more updates as we navigate this evolving gaming landscape.
