New Iron Meat Update Offers Even More to Sink Your Teeth Into

Since Iron Meat’s successful debut in September, the creative minds at Retroware have been busy planning amazing updates for this modern retro classic! The first major update has landed on Xbox, offering a fresh batch of content for gamers to dive into.

One of the most eagerly anticipated features is the introduction of Mirror Mode. Now, you can tackle each level from a leftward perspective. While flipping the x-axis might seem minor, this twist turns every encounter and challenge into a brand-new adventure. To unlock this mode, simply complete the game on any difficulty setting.

A new game-changer is the Supercharge upgrade—the coveted third tier of weapon advancement. Once activated, your projectiles will blaze a fiery red, regardless of their previous blue or green hue. Players with fully upgraded weapons can take advantage of this by snagging a third copy to gain the Supercharge (Rapid Fire) upgrade, along with the new red-infused firepower.

Another delightful tweak comes with the way extra lives are handled. This update allows you to carry over any additional lives you earn as you move from one level to the next, ensuring your hard-earned stash is not lost between stages.

Players will also notice enhancements to certain level backgrounds. These adjustments are designed to enrich the game’s underlying narrative. Expect to see helicopter flybys in the Forest, midboss spikes in the Base, and other engaging elements like surviving pilots in the credit scenes and impactful explosions in the Train level.

Additional updates provide a host of tweaks and fixes. We’ve boosted the default damage of the “E”, “U”, and “M” guns, added more enemy presence throughout the Moon Base, refined the MI-24 helicopter boss fight mechanics, and made numerous level tweaks for fairness—such as the newly killable Meat worms and Meat Mouth Doors.
