Following on from the recent Meowth and Chansey Wonder Pick events, Pokémon TCG Pocket has unveiled yet another enticing reason to keep your phone close by as you hunt for more digital cards. This time, it’s the Fire Pokémon Mass Outbreak Event. Don’t worry if you’re not up for new single-player challenges; you can shelve that Misty deck you’ve been planning. Instead, this event is tailored for those who love checking in on their Wonder Pick options regularly throughout the day.
So, how does this Fire Pokémon Mass Outbreak work? From now until November 28, you’ll find a special “Bonus Pick” option appearing in the Wonder Pick menu. This lets you pick one of five fire-type cards at random, completely free of charge. Whenever you see this Bonus Pick, be sure to take it. It can pop up multiple times during the day, so it’s worth checking your Wonder Picks whenever you play. Additionally, keep an eye out for “Rare Picks” in the Wonder Pick menu, which offer a chance at a rarer batch of cards; however, these ones will cost you Wonder Stamina, which will refill naturally every 36 hours.
Let’s dive into the benefits of this event:
The selection of cards available for Bonus Picks includes the following:
– Charmander
– Charmeleon
– Vulpix
– Ninetales
– Ponyta
– Rapidash
– Growlithe
– Magmar
– Heatmor
– Blaine
The Bonus Picks come at no cost, making them a win even if you don’t land the best cards. However, if you’re focusing on Fire decks, snagging evolution lines like Charmander, Vulpix, and Ponyta can be quite beneficial—especially if paired with a Blaine trainer card. A Ninetales with Blaine’s added 30 damage can take down a Pikachu EX with just one hit!
Now, let’s delve into the cards you can get from Rare Picks:
– Arcanine EX
– Charizard
– Moltres
– Ninetales
– Rapidash
– Charmeleon
– Blaine
Is spending Wonder Stamina on Rare Picks worth it? It can be a tough call. Charizard EX isn’t on the table, which might deter some, but Arcanine EX, though not the most “meta” card, can counter Pikachu EX effectively with its 120 damage for three energy. Still, given the unpredictable nature of Wonder Picks, there’s no assurance you’ll snag it. You might score a Wonder Hourglass and a Shop Ticket if you pull an Arcanine EX, but these are more of a bonus than the main reason to pursue it.
Thankfully, even when luck doesn’t favor you, the consolation prizes here are worthwhile. Ninetales and Rapidash become formidable when paired with Blaine. Charmeleon is essential if you’re hoping to build any Charizard deck. And if Charizard or Moltres aren’t yet part of your collection, this event could round it out nicely.
Should you use all your stored Wonder Hourglasses on Rare Picks? Unless you’re missing a lot of these cards, you probably don’t need to go overboard. But if you’re itching to use up your Wonder Stamina, this is definitely a solid opportunity—as long as you don’t get frustrated when the cards you wanted flip over right after you’ve made your pick.
