Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a game about teaming up with an eclectic bunch of odd companions to embark on a fantasy adventure. Similarly, Baldur’s Gate 3 revolves around you and a diverse crew of quirky allies, all venturing into the realm of fantasy. Thanks to a creative modder, you can now merge elements of these two games and give your character in The Veilguard some unique facial tattoos.
Rest assured, these designs are a step above some of the more questionable mods that have adorned Solas’ face in Dragon Age. After all, sporting mysterious inscriptions that you barely understand is always bound to make an impression.
For this clever mod, we have ShadyKnight to thank, who named their work ‘Astarion Would Be Proud.’ The mod swaps out nearly all the standard tattoos in The Veilguard for those found in BG3. ShadyKnight notes, “As the name suggests, this mod replaces almost all the default tattoos with BG3 tattoos. It’s not 100% perfect yet, but I’m satisfied enough to share it.” Quite the venture, indeed.
Expect to see all your familiar looks here: the whimsical face paint reminiscent of a child’s birthday bash, intimidating neck etchings, artistic chin designs like artful dribbles, and cheek tattoos that hint at your supposed knowledge of avian species. There’s even a touch of clown makeup for those feeling particularly avant-garde.
Whatever style you choose, these tattoos will serve as a reminder of your escapades in BG3. Imagine you’re deep in an engaging conversation with one of Veilguard’s charmingly amicable party members, then suddenly, a glance at your character’s face transports you back to memorable moments—like when Astarion’s snark crossed a line during a flirt, or when Lae’zel scorched the campsite because the heat of battle evoked another kind of passion.
In other news from the world of The Veilguard, the game recently released its third patch. It’s a modest update, improving quality-of-life elements such as photo mode and the user interface, and ironing out peculiarities like the “odd facial expression when Rook first encounters Emmrich.”
I must confess, I’ll miss that last quirk—it probably provided more than a few laughs.
